Listen to article

realme has announced a new software update policy for a few select smartphones. These devices will receive three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches.

The new ‘3+4’ update plan will cover the realme 14 Pro+, 14 Pro, 14T, 15, 15 Pro, as well as the upcoming P4 series, P3 Ultra, P3 Pro, and P3. The brand confirmed that all future models in the Number Pro, Number, and Number T series will follow the same policy.

The realme 15 and 15 Pro, launched in July 2025, sport 144Hz AMOLED displays, large-capacity batteries, and high-resolution cameras. Meanwhile, the realme 14 series, which debuted earlier this year, brought upgraded internals and a color-changing back panel.

This news was confirmed by realme Global Head of Product Marketing, Francis Wong via an X post. Older realme models outside these series will retain the standard 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches.

Realme got destroyed by Transsion pretty much. 3 years of os updates shouldn’t be something they should be proud of when competition can provide longer.
