Redmi A5 launching in the Philippines on May 20

The Redmi A5 is launching in the Philippines on May 20 as seen via an X post. As mentioned in previous articles, this is an entry-level device that should be more than affordable.

In terms of design, it has a large pill-shaped camera enclosure with a matte finish on its back panel. At the front, it has a 6.88-inch LCD with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Under the hood, it’s powered by the new UNISOC T7250 chipset. Redmi noted that this chipset can score over 260,000 points in AnTuTu. This is a good range considering the phone’s price segment despite its dated 12nm process technology.

Redmi’s offering also comes with a 32-megapixel main camera paired with an auxiliary sensor. It’s also equipped with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies.

Rounding out the specs, it has a 5,200mAh battery, 15W fast charging support, and an audio port. The Redmi A5 is expected to come with two configurations in 3GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB.

The phone will have four colorways and has a rough pricing estimate of PHP 4,599. We’ll be sure to update readers should we get more details for this developing story.

For reference, the Redmi A3 from last year started at PHP 3,399 with 3GB/64GB. It was also available for PHP 3,999 with 4GB/128GB.

Communication graduate, closet cynic, and kid at heart. Duane is a rare person to find, quite literally. He often takes to himself but has proven his mettle in tech media with his quick wits. Well, the portfolio of scriptwriting, web content, and public relations help too, we suppose. As a homebody, he often spends his time on the streaming platform Twitch or ‘farming’ gaming clips with friends. He is also an avid fan of round glasses and anything relative to blueberries.
