RIM announces BlackBerry Bold 9780

Research in Motion (RIM) today announced the BlackBerry Bold 9780 which also features the newest BlackBerry OS 6.0.

In most respects, the BB Bold 9780 has almost the same exact design and form factor as the previous BlackBerry Bold (BB Bold 9650 back in April and the BB Bold 9700 prior to that).

BlackBerry Bold 9780
2.44″ screen @ 480×360 pixels
256 MB storage, 512 MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.1 b/g with UMA
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
5MP autofocus camera
624MHz processor
GPS with aGPS support
1500mAh Li-Ion battery
BlackBerry OS 6.0

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 will be available this November via local carriers (probably all three — Globe, Smart and Sun) but no price was indicated. Our geus is that it will be in the same range as the BB Bold 9700.

i’ve always loved the 9700. i think it’s the most beautiful qwerty phone. but this one, this takes the cake.

  3. wow, 5 megapixel camera, and it has an auto focus function, nice! Ask ko lang sir Yuga, does this blackberry model have a radio FM feature? the Blackberry Curve doesn’t have one (which is my dad’s phone). My dad love it though :D

  4. Manny says:

BB is actually one among my choices, the only thing holding me back is the BIS service. Why can’t it go like other phones where you can surf when you want using your own phone credit. Why oh why do you wanna say goodbye hehe.. kumanta nalang.

  14. Harley says:

still getting used to with my current blackberry…i have downgraded the OS of my BB and upgraded again. I did it because i deleted the maps and it made my phone unstable…well i hope it is fixed… will be looking at it starting now!

I love BIS but quite expensive…hehe! Globe please lower your BIS costing! thanks!

Been using one. It’s definitely way better than previous OS versions. OS 6 allows home screens and organizing your apps into different screens like an Iphone. It also auto learns your frequently used apps and puts them into the frequent home screen. Looks the same as previous Bold but totally different OS.

  17. unknown says:

Still no radio. Yuga, you yourself hoped BB should put one in their phone right? Not even a camera infront. All these “enhancements” are already in E72. Failed.

  18. unknown says:

I hope they have something more than E72. This beauty doesn’t even have a front camera.
