Samsung Galaxy S21 Series: What We Know So Far

Samsung is about to launch its upcoming flagship lineup, the Galaxy S21 series. There are three smartphones expected to arrive, such as the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S1 Ultra. As usual, there are lots of leaks and rumors about the devices here and there before its official launch. With that said, we have compiled a list of what to expect from the latest S21 series. Let’s see!

Display and Design

The leak renders show that the upcoming smartphones will feature a punch-hole design, multiple color options, and a rectangular-shaped camera module. The S21 series is expected to come with an Infinity-O display with Dynamic AMOLED 2X. Reports hint that the S21 will have a 6.2-inch display, while the S21+ will have a larger one at 6.7-inch, and the S21 Ultra to arrive the largest at 6.8-inch. Nevertheless, the S21 and S21+ are set to have an FHD+ resolution, while the S21 Ultra comes with a WQHD+ resolution. The three, however, come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Cameras

Samsung teases the arrival of its flagship series featuring the new rear camera module in a box. The brand’s invitation video seems to confirm the initial renders of the rectangular camera module. Now, various reports have given nearly complete information about the cameras. Reports hint that the S21 and the S21+ have rectangular rear camera module with triple lenses. These lenses are composed of a 12MP F2.2 (ultra-wide), 12MP F1.8 (main), and 64MP F2.0 (telephoto) sensors. Upfront, both have a 10MP F2.2 selfie camera. 

Meanwhile, the S21 Ultra has a higher resolution selfie camera with 40MP F2.2. It has more sensors for its rear cameras and has a thicker rectangular camera module. It is equipped with quad rear cameras with 108MP F1.8 (main), 12MP F2.2 (ultra-wide) 10MP F2.4 (telephoto), and 10MP F4.9 (telephoto) sensors.

S Pen Stylus support?

A report hints that Samsung offers an S Pen for its latest Galaxy S flagship for the first time. Unlike the Galaxy Note, the Samsung S Pen is just an accessory product on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, not part of its package. That means Samsung offering the stylus pen is only optional. The pen has been reported to cost under EUR 40. Moreover, the brand also offers a plastic cover and a folding cover with an additional storage area for the pen.

Color options

It is being reported that the Galaxy S21 will arrive in four colors, Gold, Purple, White, and Black. The S21+, on the other hand, will flaunt in Silver, Black, and Purple. As for the S21 Ultra, the handset will be available in two colors, Black and Silver.

Specs

Under the hood, the S21 series smartphones are expected to be powered with Samsung’s latest Exynos 2100 SoC or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor. The company is expected to offer the Snapdragon 888 5G model for international markets like the US, while the Exynos 2100 model to be available in most countries, including India and Europe.

The standard S21 and S21+ will come with 8GB RAM, coupled with either 128GB or 256GB storage. Storage-wise, the S21 Ultra offers more with 12GB of RAM, paired with either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage options. Meanwhile, the S21 Ultra has been reported to be the only one to come with expandable storage.

Besides, reports have also mentioned that the S21 Series smartphones are also 5G-capable. The devices are also expected to have OneUI 3.0 based on Android 11. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S21 is said to have a 4,000mAh battery. The S21+, however, comes with a 4,800mAh battery, while the S21 Ultra has been reported to sport a 5,000mAh battery. Both S21 and S21+ are assumed to support 25W fast-charging, Qi wireless charging, and reverse charging, while the S21 Ultra supports 45W fast-charging.

Furthermore, Samsung is expected to remove the free power adapter from the package of these smartphones. The company has already stopped including earphones in the box in the US since the launch of the Galaxy Note10 series.

Pricing and Availability

The pricing of the latest Galaxy S21 series in the European markets has been revealed in various reports. Check out the starting prices below.

• Samsung Galaxy S21 (8GB + 128GB) – EUR 849
• Samsung Galaxy S21+ (8GB + 128GB) – EUR 1,049
• Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (12GB + 128GB) – EUR 1,399
