Samsung Galaxy S5 takes the Ice Bucket Challenge, calls out other flagship rivals

Listen to article

From celebrities to tech leaders, everybody nowadays seem to be in on this whole ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. So Samsung thought why not put the Galaxy S5 to the same ordeal to help spread the awareness about ALS, not to mention dare some of its flagship contemporaries to do the same.

For the Samsung Galaxy S5, being poured on with a glass of ice-filled water is just a walk in the park thanks to its IP67-certified body. So after surviving the challenge, S-Voice called out the Apple iPhone 5, HTC One (M8) and the Nokia Lumia 930 to take a freezing dip.

Oddly enough, the folks over at Samsung Mobile UK didn’t dare other water-proof flagship smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z2 and only challenged non-waterproof flagship handsets. Well, at least the company contributed a “generous” donation to an organization that’s also involved in finding a cure for ALS.

@Andrew:

I think the screen could actually be showing a screenshot because if you look carefully at around 0:05-0:07, it looks like the water or one of the ice cubes accidentally swiped the screen. It’s really easy to miss, but if you examine the right side of the screen, you’ll see what looks like a swiping motion. Not a Sammy fanboy, btw, just pointing out what I saw. Peace

What a shame, watch the video. The phone’s clock (upper right) jumps from 2:16 to 2:50. The phone probably broke and they had to edit the video. What lame-ass a cheat, seriously.

@ Andrew: Hahahaha!

Kung titignan mo ng maigi, nagslide ng konti sa kanan ng screen, so parang gallery image sya (screenshot) tapos nagslide nung buhusan ng tubig. so yung notification bar nag-iba from blue to black, time from 2:16 to 2:50, tapos battery from 64% to 56%.

Check nyo lang galaw ng screen, di sya spliced.
