While Sony bagged the “Best New Smartphone” award at the annual Global Mobile Awards (Glomo Awards) at Mobile World Congress 2017, Samsung was able to take home the recognition for having the best smartphone of the previous year.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was named as the “Best Smartphone 2016” during the MWC 2017 awards night. Samsung wasn’t able to show us its latest smartphone offering but they’ll soon have their own big event before the end of the month.

The S7 Edge was announced last February 22, 2016 and it currently stands as Samsung’s flagship since the Note 7 suffered from battery issues and was eventually pulled out of the market. Who knows, the Note 7 might have won the prize if Samsung was able to solve the problem.
