The impending launch of the new Asus Zenfone 2 is near, and some folks were a bit skeptical about a certain variant it would launch. In this hardware comparison, we’ll put the ever-popular Asus Zenfone 5 against the low-end model of the Asus Zenfone 2, the ZE500CL, sporting almost the same hardware as the former. Which takes the cake for the more capable handset?

Below are some of the advantages of each phone:
Asus Zenfone 5:
* Dual-SIM
* More affordable (apparently)
* Lighter
Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE500CL):
* LTE
* Bigger battery capacity
* Android Lollipop out of the box
The Zenfone 2 has a few advantages over the Zenfone 5 despite the similarities in hardware. It boasts a bigger battery capacity, the presence of Google’s latest Android OS version, and LTE connectivity. Unlike the Zenfone 5, it now touts rear keys a la LG G series.
On the other hand, The Zenfone 5 still has a few edges to boot. It has a Dual-SIM capacity, is lighter partially due to a lesser battery capacity, and might be more affordable than the newer device, as the rumors go around.
With that being said, they share almost the same hardware under the hood besides the ones we’ve mentioned. If that’s the case, you’re basically paying a grand more for a few incremental upgrades. Will you choose the newer Zenfone 2, or is the Zenfone 5 still a viable contender for your purchase? Take your pick! Vote on this poll, and feel free to comment down below.

Sobrang weird ng Asus PH. Bakit kaya they have to increase 1,000 pesos to the price of original zenfone 5. Siguro madami pa sigurong stocks ng ZF5, at ayaw nilang babaan ang price nun kasi gusto pa nila kumita. Haaay. Sobrang kunti lang nang nagbago at naupgrade. Tas single sim pa. *SMH*

I made a post somewhere here nagcocompare . We did an actual comparison sa bagong Z2 ng kaibigan ko at Z5 at Z6 ko walang pagkakaiba sa gaming lalo na sa mga resource exhaustive na apps. Theyre good phones and im not letting go of my Z5 and Z6!

Will ASUS Ph release the 4gb Ram version here in the Philippines?

Asus simply wants to try the upper price point, siyempre for profit.
Asus zen5 was a runaway product for them, cementing Asus as a brand sa mobile phone, but profit wise manipis ata.
Kung mag-click at RUMORED price point, then good for Asus, if not, then a price roll back is easy to implement. Win-win for Asus

I am just curious. I thought the Z5 has Sony lens with BSI compared to the low end variant of Z2. Hopefully, someone can confirm this for me. Which has better camera between the two?
I am looking forward for the best camera between the two so that I can give it as a gift to my wife.
Camera kasi ang importante sa kanila.

the additional price, i think, is good enough considering better battery, LTE connectivity, and Lollipop out of the box.

@john so bumili ka ng Z5 dahil purpose mo photography? Ineexpect mo bang parang slr Z5 mo? Hahahaha Yan ang problema sa mga tao masyadong inestretch ang expectation sa phones. Bumili ka ng LG.
