The vivo Y73 is the brand’s new upper entry-level smartphone that packs a 6.44-inch AMOLED display, a 64MP main rear camera, and a fast 33W fast charging tech. We finally got our hands on one, so let’s check it out.
Let’s first talk about that trendy design. This phone sure aims to be artistic—especially in this Diamond Flare variant that we have. It’s supposed to give a diamond-cut look, but it honestly looks like a mosaic design. It doesn’t look that premium, yet it doesn’t look cheap either. It sits in the middle.
The back is made out of plastic and it has an anti-glare glass coating on top which repels fingerprint smudges. This also makes the phone comfortable to grip, plus its light to hold weighing 170g.
Found on the upper left corner is the minimally protruding camera module that looks similar to vivo’s previous flagship devices. There is still a camera bump, but putting a case on reduces the matter.
Up front, the Y73 flaunts a 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with slim bezels and a slightly thicker bottom bezel. Thankfully, there’s already a pre-installed screen protector on top for an extra layer of protection.
Its front camera is placed on a waterdrop notch on the upper middle, that’s right below the earpiece. Then on the lower part of the display, we get an in-display fingerprint scanner. So far, this display is looking good with vibrant colors. However, there’s no 90 or 120Hz refresh rate on board, so simply expect the standard 60Hz.
As for buttons and ports, located on the right are all the buttons, specifically the power trigger and volume rocker.
Then on the left side is a triple card slot for 2 nano-SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card slot.
Alone on top is a secondary microphone, while at the bottom are your speaker grille, USB Type-C port, main microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone port.
Checking out hardware, the vivo Y73 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset together with 8GB of RAM with 4GB extended RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. Now keeping this device running is a pretty decent 4,000mAh battery capacity with 33W fast charging.
Running the software department is Android 11 skinned with the fun-looking Funtouch OS 11.1.
Camera-wise, its triple camera setup at the back is composed of a high 64MP main, a 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro lens. Then for selfies, it has a 16MP front shooter. Like usual we’ll go more in-depth in this department in our full review, but for now, take a look at a few samples photos we got:
The vivo Y73 is now available at vivo concept stores, authorized dealers, as well as Lazada and Shopee for PHP 14,999USD 256INR 21,668EUR 243CNY 1,861 SRP, with a P500 off voucher and freebies including a DITO SIM card and a pair of TWS earphones. We’ll use it more in the next couple of days, so stay tuned for our full review.
