Angkas/Joyride/MoveIt suspended for the quarantine period

Following the Guidelines for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease announced by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), motorcycle taxi operations are now suspended during the Metro Manila community quarantine.

Starting on March 15, Angkas, JoyRide, and MoveIt will suspend its operations. Furthermore, multiple bookings for a single trip (such as Grab share) is also prohibited during the quarantine. Public transportation will also be crippled as the DOTr has set numerous guidelines to limit their operation, including:

  • Operators must educate their drivers and conductors to observe their passengers. Should a passenger exhibit symptoms of the COVID-19, the driver must assist the passenger to the nearest hospital and report to the Department of Health or the Philippine National Police.
  •  Passengers who exhibit symptoms, such as having a temperature above 38°C, severe coughing, or have difficulty breathing, will not be allowed in the terminals.
  • Provincial buses and inter-regional trips of jeepneys and UV Express to and from Metro Manila will be terminated on entry points identified by the PNP. Drivers, conductors, and passengers riding said public vehicles must present a valid company ID and government ID to prove that their travel is essential.
  • Point-to-point buses from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to the Clark International Airport and Sangley Airport will follow the schedule set by the DOH and PNP.
