Belkin outs world’s first Apple-certified power bank with Lightning input

It has taken a long time for this to happen, but a power bank with a Lightning port input for charging finally exists, thanks to Belkin. The freshly launched BoostCharge Power Bank 10K with Lightning Connector has a 10,000mAh capacity, one 2.4A USB-A port, and a slower 1.0A USB-A port.

Most power banks in existence use a microUSB cable for charging, though several Type-C adopters are out on the market. Having the same connector for both your phone and your power bank is a great convenience, as you only need to keep one type of cable, or in barebones cases, only have one cable at all. Now, iPhone and iPad users will be able to enjoy that benefit.

The Belkin BoostCharge Power Bank 10K with Lightning is the world’s first power bank with Apple MFi certification.

MFi stands for “Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad”, and is Apple’s initiative for officially licensing third-party products for their devices. Such products using the Lightning port first launched back in 2014.

Worldwide availability is not known yet, but it is up for pre-order in the US for $59.99 (Php3.2k).

  1. Wow that’s like five folds of a price for a 10000mah power bank. MFi certification is really something. It gives you the license to name your price and let people take it. Tsk
