ChatGPT Pulse launched as OpenAI CEO’s new ‘favorite’ feature

OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature that works in the background to give personalized updates. CEO Sam Altman noted that Pulse is his favorite feature of the platform so far.

Usually, ChatGPT works with users asking questions on demand. However, Pulse pulls from its user’s interests, past chats, direct feedback, and connected apps like Google Calendar or Gmail.

For example, Pulse can take your mornings and deliver visual cards that users can scan or expand for details. These may include follow-ups on frequent topics, task suggestions, meeting agendas, restaurant recommendations, or calendar-based reminders.

Pulse may also offer guidance for long-term goals like a user’s training program or project milestones. Of course, users can shape how Pulse works through setting preferences or asking for specific topics.

As mentioned, it also helps to give the program feedback with either a thumbs-up or thumbs down. This is because Pulse will continuously adapt to provide more relevant information.

OpenAI says that Pulse is essentially a proactive assistant rather than a reactive chatbot. In short, it’s designed to help with daily tasks and long-term objectives.

Saved updates can be added to your chats with Pulse or flagged for follow-ups. Filters are also in place to prevent harmful content.

At the time of writing, ChatGPT Pulse is available exclusively to Pro subscribers.
