Dell unveils a new set of affordable gaming laptops separate from their already well-known Alienware and Inspiron 7000 line — The G series. These new laptops will focus on providing ample specs for the budget-conscious consumer. The two already established lines will continue to be updated though, so the brand is just widening their reach.
The new laptops come in three variants namely the G3, G5, and G7. Each variant carries different specs and sizes. The G3 comes in 15-inch and 17-inch flavors and is equipped with a Full HD IPS display. Spec-wise we get up to Intel’s 8th generation Core i7 processors and Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 up to a GTX 1060 Max-Q (lower clock speed version for lesser power consumption). For connectivity, the laptop features MIMO 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. Some G3 variants can come with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.
Moving up a notch we have the G5 and G7. Both features beefier specs than their G3 siblings, starting with the inclusion of up to Intel’s 8th generation Core i7 processors (for the G5) and even up to Intel’s 8th generation Core i9 (for the G7). Like the G3, the G5 and G7 can come equipped with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050 up to a Max-Q GTX 1060. Both laptops can have either a Full HD IPS display or a 4k UHD IPS display but only in 15-inch models. Both laptops and their variants have 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.
All laptops can have a maximum of 16GB of RAM (base but upgradeable up to 32GB), and a combination of an M.2 SSD up to 512GB and a 2.5-inch HDD up to 1TB.
