The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has recently announced the mandatory use of the TRAZE Contact Tracing app for all airport passengers starting November 28.
Airport passengers will be required to download and register an account in the TRAZE app before entering the airport.
TRAZE is a nationwide and unified contact tracing app co-developed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Cosmotech Philippines, Inc. It enables to strengthen the government’s contact tracing efforts. Moreover, the contact tracing process can now be done through the app in just a few minutes, unlike the usual and manual process. It also assures that data provided is safe and secured since the app fully complies with the Data Privacy Act (DPA) or Republic Act No. 10173. The app does not use Bluetooth or GPS, and can work even with slow mobile data and WiFi connection.
Here are the complete steps to register:
• Download the TRAZE App (Android, iOS) from your mobile store.
• Open the app and click the “Register” button below. Register as “Individual.”
• Follow the instructions indicated in the app and input the needed information
• Activate your account.
Passengers who do not have mobile phones or any other mobile gadget may go to the Malasakit Helpdesk at the airport to get a unique QR code. Otherwise, they may also ask a family member to register on their behalf through the app. The QR code can be used at any DOTr Office nationwide.
