The FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 has been announced as their first dedicated filmmaking camera. It’s positioned to be used for commercials, documentaries, feature films, and music videos.

The camera is equipped with a large format 102MP CMOS II HS sensor paired with the X-Processor 5 image engine. The company says this setup delivers richer gradation and three-dimensional detail.

This is in tandem with their color reproduction technology, built with over 90 years of expertise. It’s slated to offer tolerance for heavy edits, wide dynamic range, and strong low-light performance.

Further, it uses the world’s longest vertical large format sensor for filmmaking. It exceeds full-frame and Super35 image circles, with support for five cinema formats.

This includes GF format (4:3 open gate), Premista, 35mm, Anamorphic (35mm), and Super35. Meanwhile, lens options are expanded through bundled adapters like the PL Mount Adapter G.

Another key feature is Film Simulation support, aside from 20 available film profiles available for video. The ETERNA film series is digitally reproduced, while users can load up to 16 LUT files for streamlined color management from production to post.

The FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 is set to release in late October 2025. Pricing and availability details have yet to be revealed, but we’ll keep readers posted.
