Listen to article

Google has just announced that Google Assistant can now be enabled in Waze on Android phones in English.

With the use of Google Assistant in Waze, users can drive, play music, and make calls hands-free without needing to close the navigation screen. Using Waze-specific commands, the Google Assistant can be used to ask for traffic reports, report road accidents, or even avoid toll roads. Some of those commands include:

  • “Hey Google, report traffic”
  • “Hey Google, avoid tolls”
  • “Hey Google, report police”
  • “Hey Google, report a crash”
  • “Hey Google, show me alternate routes”

The feature is currently only available for English-language Android devices in the US. It’s expected that Google will roll out the feature into other territories soon.
