Google Maps adds Ask Maps and Immersive Navigation features

Google Maps reveals new AI features powered by Google Gemini. These are Ask Maps and Immersive Navigation.

Ask Maps lets users ask complex questions directly in the app instead of manually searching.

The feature analyzes data from more than 300 million places and 500 million community contributors to provide recommendations and show results on the map.

Google is also updating navigation with Immersive Navigation. It adds a 3D map view showing buildings, terrain, lanes, traffic lights and other road details to make directions easier to follow. It also includes clearer voice guidance and improved route previews.

Ask Maps is rolling out now in the U.S. and India on Android and iOS. Immersive Navigation is launching in the U.S. first with wider availability planned later.
