HP updates their Envy line of thin and light laptops

Intel’s 8th generation CPUs finally made their way into HP’s premium thin and light Envy notebook line. Apart from the internal upgrades, the notebooks also receive a revamped design. The new Envy’s come in 13-inch and 17-inch variants.

The notebooks are encased in an all-aluminum sand-blasted frame with design cues inspired by “Damascus” steel. The new design can be seen, and felt, along the hinges and the lid. Apart from that, the speaker grilles also receive a new geometric pattern and the overall bezels have been reduced.

Let’s take a look at the 13-inch variant. HP’s Envy 13 makes use of a micro-edge bezel resulting in much thinner overall bezels than it’s 17-inch counterpart. Powering the device is a 13.3-inch FHD/UHD IPS display, Intel’s 8th generation Core i7-8550U processor, Intel UHD 620 or Nvidia Geforce MX150 GPUs, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The laptop is available in two colors — Natural Silver and Pale Gold.

Next up, the 17-inch variant. The HP Envy 17, while still maintaining relatively thin bezels, foregoes the micro-edge bezel design and only comes with the Natural Silver color. Powering the device is a 17.3-inch FHD IPS/UHD WLED display, Intel’s 8th generation Core i7-8550U processor, Nvidia’s MX150 GPU, 12GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB 7200rpm HDD.

The HP Envy 13 starts at $999.99 (~Php 52,439) while the bigger Envy 17 starts at $1049.99 (~Php 55,061). Both variants are now available at HP authorized stores and resellers. Local availability and pricing though, are yet to be announced.
