HSBC enters metaverse via partnership with Sandbox

Listen to article

HSBC has just announced that it would join the metaverse through a partnership with Sandbox. The company is buying plots in Sandbox so that it could engage in sports, e-sports, and gaming.

Details of HSBC’s development weren’t completely announced, the company has just posted a promotional GIF that showed an HSBC stadium next to a virtual body of water.

HSBC says that it sees great potential in creating new experiences in emerging platforms, the partnership with the bank will enable the bank to create innovative brand experiences for new and existing customers, says Suresh Balaji, chief marketing officers at HSBC Asia-Pacific.

This development to buy digital real estate comes as competing bank JPMorgan Chase bought into the metaverse last month by creating a lounge in another metaverse, Decentraland.
