HUAWEI Mate XT launched, first-ever tri-folding smartphone

As mentioned in a previous article, the HUAWEI Mate XT 34 has been launched today at an event in China.

The device features two hinges, making for a triple-screen foldable. The phone isn’t a clamshell foldable, either. It holds more similarities to the Galaxy Z Fold devices as it folds like a pamphlet.

When unfolded, the phone boasts a 10.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3184 x 2232. It goes down to a still sizable 6.4-inch display with a single fold.

Huawei has yet to reveal what powers this device. It’s currently presumed to have a Kirin 9010 5G chipset or above under the hood for satellite connectivity.

This is a developing story with the original posting in Chinese, so we’ll update the article upon gathering more information.

For optics, the phone will have a 50-megapixel camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide, and a 12-megapixel periscope camera at the rear. The Mate XT also packs a 5,600mAh battery with support for 66W of fast charging.

The HUAWEI Mate XT starts at CNY 19,999 (~PHP 159,000) with 16GB/256GB. It’s also available with 16GB/1TB for CNY 23,999 (~PHP 190,000). At the time of writing, the newly-released tri-fold phone is exclusive to Chinese markets. We’ll let you guys know if this should ever make it to the Philippines.
