The MediaTek Helio G100 has been unveiled by the company after the reveal of the TECNO CAMON 30S Pro. Netizens were in anticipation as only a few recognized this chipset before its announcement this week.
MediaTek said that it mirrors the Helio G99 in terms of processing and graphics. The G100’s difference lies with its support for 200-megapixel main cameras.
The MediaTek G100 has an octa-core processor. This consists of two (2) Cortex A76-cores running at 2.2GHz and six (6) Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz.
The display caps out at FHD+ (2520 x 1080) resolution. The chip offers LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage as well.
The Helio G99 has been a solid choice to power midrange devices in LTE markets. It also comes at a lower price in comparison to Dimensity chipsets.
With the need for better cameras growing, the Helio G100 is slated to give manufacturers more flexible options. It even comes with “Elevator Mode”, which promises to quickly and effectively restore cellular connection in areas without coverage.
This includes areas like tunnels, elevators, and the like. The feature supports dual 4G SIM cards with VoLTE and ViLTE. With MediaTek already supplying the Helio G100, we can only expect to see more devices equipped with it this year.
