Meta has officially launched its first consumer-ready smart glasses with a built-in display, expanding its Ray-Ban lineup and pushing further into AI-powered wearables. Unveiled during Meta Connect 2025, CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the new Ray-Ban Display as the “ideal form factor for personal superintelligence,” blending AI assistance with everyday convenience.
The glasses feature a small digital display in the right lens, useful for tasks like notifications and quick responses. They retail for $799 ( PHP 47,000 ) and include a wristband that translates hand gestures into commands, such as answering calls or sending messages. Availability starts September 30.
Meta also introduced new Oakley Vanguard glasses geared toward athletes, priced at $499, offering real-time fitness stats with Garmin and Strava integration. Meanwhile, its updated Ray-Ban line, priced at $379, now features nearly double the battery life and an upgraded camera.
While analysts don’t expect explosive sales, the Display glasses are seen as a stepping stone toward Meta’s more ambitious “Orion” AR glasses, targeted for 2027. IDC projects AR/VR and smart glasses shipments will surge by 39.2% in 2025, with Meta driving growth.
Zuckerberg admits the tech still has kinks, but Meta is betting big tens of billions of dollars on AI-powered wearables to shape the next frontier.
