Mozilla is giving Firefox users something many have been asking for, a way to turn all AI features off.
Browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge continue to push AI tools, Firefox also added its own set of AI-powered features, including smart tab grouping, AI translations, and quick access to chatbots. While some users found these helpful, others weren’t too happy, especially those worried about privacy or simply not interested in AI at all.
The Firefox update scheduled for release on February 24 will introduce an AI “kill switch” that enables users to deactivate all AI functions with a single command. Enzor-DeMeo the CEO of Mozilla explained that the decision shows the company believes users should have the power to choose their options. Mozilla supports its AI tools as useful yet users must have the right to choose whether they want to use them.
