Netflix PH Basic, Standard plans price drop

Netflix has announced to cut monthly subscription cost for its Basic and Standard plans in the Philippines starting February 21.

The Basic Plan will now cost Php 249USD 4INR 360EUR 4CNY 31 per month instead of Php 369USD 6INR 533EUR 6CNY 46, while the Standard Plan will cost Php 399USD 7INR 576EUR 6CNY 50 instead of Php 459USD 8INR 663EUR 7CNY 57.

Current subscribers will also benefit from the price cut, with Netflix 311 automatically rolling out the updated pricing on their next billing cycle.

It’s worth noting that the only difference between the Basic Plan and the Standard Plan is the video quality and resolution, with the former at 720p and the latter at 1080p. All other features, such as device compatibility, remain the same.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Plan and Premium Plan will retain their monthly subscription cost of Php 149USD 3INR 215EUR 2CNY 18 and Php 549USD 9INR 793EUR 9CNY 68, respectively.

This move is quite necessary as Netflix faces stiff competition from other streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO GO, which offer monthly subscription prices in the range of P149 to P369.

Netflix’s recent anti-password sharing 27 measures in the US have also put off subscribers, and similar implementation is expected in the Philippines soon.
