OpenAI is reportedly launching its own AI-powered web browser

Listen to article

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is reportedly preparing to launch its own Chromium-based web browser to challenge market leader Google Chrome. The browser will be deeply integrated with OpenAI’s AI agents and Operator platform, enabling tasks like form-filling, booking, and other actions to be handled directly by AI.

Unlike traditional browsers, OpenAI’s version may lean on a ChatGPT-style interface, where users ask for websites or tasks instead of clicking around. The browser is said to use your browsing history to power its AI agents, allowing for smarter automation and personalization.

The move is allegedly part of OpenAI’s larger data strategy, with the browser offering more control over user behavior data than browser extensions allow. While privacy concerns linger, the AI-driven experience could redefine how we interact with the web.

The OpenAI browser is expected to launch within the coming weeks.
