Reuters has reported that Qualcomm has won their licensing dispute with ARM. The US federal court has ruled that their licensing agreement has not been violated amid existing uncertainties.

We noted how the two companies entered the dispute in a previous article. This comes from Qualcomm acquiring Nuvia, which uses ARM’s architecture. As per ARM, Qualcomm owes them higher royalty fees since Nuvia works under them.
ARM also says that both Qualcomm and Nuvia use ARM’s patents for their chip design. Even with the judge ruling in favor of Qualcomm, it’s noted that it’s not a straightforward victory.
This is due to the jury failing to reach a unanimous decision on whether Nuvia breached their agreement with ARM. In other words, ARM could open up another case soon.
