RapidShare is Shutting Down in March

Listen to article

Popular Switzerland-based file-sharing site RapidShare has recently announced that it’ll be shutting down before the end of next month.

According to a short advisory on the home page of their website, all data that were uploaded to the site will be deleted and all accounts will no longer be accessible after March 31.

RapidShare users may have seen this impending closure from miles away as the company struggled to stay relevant against aggressive competitors that offer cloud-based storage space at a cheaper price, sometimes even at no cost at all for freemium accounts.

Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end, albeit it’s still heartbreaking to see one of the pioneers of cloud storage to go out like this. If you have valuable files on RapidShare, we suggest to secure it ASAP before the website goes offline for good.
