Samsung is reportedly delaying its upcoming “Extended Reality” (XR) headset due to Apple’s recent unveiling of its Apple Vision Pro last June.

According to Korean news channel SBS Biz, the upcoming Samsung XR headset was set to start mass production at the beginning of 2024. However, it was reported that it had been postponed by up to 3 to 6 months following the debut of Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
In particular, it was mentioned that the specifications of Apple’s Vision Pro prompted the postponement — which tells us that Samsung is reconsidering its own product decisions in line with Apple’s take on VR.

For those unfamiliar, XR is an umbrella term that encompasses both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
It’s clear that Apple’s unveiling of its upcoming VR headset has had a big effect on the industry, keeping competitors like Samsung on their toes.
We’ll be sure to update you once we know more.
