Samsung in mass production of 1TB microSD cards

Listen to article

Samsung is now in mass production of 1TB microSD cards, and is sampling 256GB SD Express microSD cards.

Samsung is manufacturing the 1TB UHS-1 microSD card with eight stacking layers of its 8-gen V-NAND technology. This should be reliable under extreme temperatures, as it has already passed ‘the most rigorous test settings’ for the industry.

As for the SD Express microSD cards, they have a reading speed of up to 800MB/s. This is faster than a SATA SSD, which peaks up to 560MB/s, and is 4X faster than traditional UHS-1 memory cards up to 200MB/s.

The cards will have a Dynamic Thermal Guard (DTG) to maintain the optimum temperature during extended use.

The 1TB microSD card is projected for launch in the third quarter of 2024. As for the 256FB SD Express microSD card, it will be available for purchase later this year. We’ll let you guys know for any further development in availability.
