SHARP AQUOS R9 pro now official

The SHARP AQUOS R9 pro 13 is now official! The new device was revealed in Japan, co-engineered with Leica’s optics and powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset.

It sports a 6.7-inch PRO IGZO OLED display with QHD+ resolution and a refresh rate up to 240Hz. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery and a unique vapor chamber design. It works by dissipating heat towards the camera module’s outer ring.

As mentioned, it has optics co-engineered by Leica, headlined by a 50.3-megapixel main camera with OIS. It also has a 50.3-megapixel telephoto camera with up to 20x digital zoom and 50.3-megapixel wide-angle camera.

At the front, it has a 50.3-megapixel selfie shooter. Notably, the phone supports Dolby Vision video recording. The device will run on Android 14 with up to three (3) major software updates.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and dual SIM (nano-SIM + eSIM). Other features include its IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

The SHARP AQUOS R9 pro is priced at JPY 190,000 (~PHP 72K) with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The box will also come with a case, shoulder strap, and camera attachment that allows for mounting lens filters.

SHARP’s flagship smartphone will be launched in Japan in December 2024. It’s also planning for launches in Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore. We’ll update readers whether or not the device will be available in the Philippines.
