Sony PH is launching its WH-1000XM6 headphone this week

Sony is known for many things, but for a lot of on-the-go individuals, the top-of-mind identifier is most definitely the headphones. Now the latest iteration of the brand’s bestselling model is set to come to our shores. Here’s what we know about the next-generation Sony WH-1000XM6 and its launch in the Philippines.

The launch event for the noise-cancelling WH-1000XM6 will be held on June 29, 2025, at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati. The theme of the event is “For the Music: the WH-1000XM6 Premiere,” which is appropriate since the device is something used to listen to audio. Current and trending local artists such as Lola Amour, Syd Hartha, Barbie Almalbis, and Fumiya are set to make their presence felt at the event. In order to emphasize a harmonious marriage of technology, music, and style, fashion designer Thian Rodriguez will also be present to showcase works.

But what about the all-new Sony WH-1000XM6 is worth celebrating?

The WH-1000XM6 continues Sony’s tradition of pushing audio technology forward, introducing a range of powerful enhancements over the successful WH-1000XM5. At the heart of the upgrade is the newly engineered HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3, working in tandem with the Integrated Processor V2 to deliver noise cancellation that’s seven times faster in real-time performance. With 12 strategically placed microphones, the XM6 significantly improves ambient sound detection and call clarity, even in noisy settings.

Built for both audiophiles and content creators, the XM6 features a redesigned 30mm driver unit that offers richer bass, crisper highs, and a wider soundstage. The experience is further elevated with support for 360 Reality Audio with head tracking, 360 Upmix for immersive video content, and a 10-band equalizer with tailored presets for gaming and background music — delivering a truly custom and spatial audio experience.

Portability is also refined with a foldable design and magnetic carrying case, balancing convenience with Sony’s signature style and comfort.

When it comes to voice quality, the XM6 makes a noticeable leap with six AI-powered beamforming microphones per earcup, combined with Sony’s advanced noise reduction AI, ensuring clearer calls in any environment. Battery life holds strong with up to 30 hours with ANC and 40 hours without, now featuring listen-while-charging support and rapid charging via USB PD for added flexibility.

What’s in store at the event?

During the event, there will be designated listening zones for interested parties to give the WH-1000XM6 a try. It would also be the best time to experiment with the noise cancellation since it’ll surely be a packed and crowded occasion. The main program will be headlined by the XM6’s grand reveal, to be followed up by a live discussion with industry trailblazers.

Customers who also pre-ordered their XM6s will be able to customize their new headphones with stickers and decals at the booths.
