Spotify’s new ‘Mix’ feature lets you DJ your own playlists

Listen to article

Spotify is rolling out a new Mix feature in beta, letting Premium users customize track transitions and add basic DJ effects to their playlists.

Available to select users, Mix offers both automatic transitions and manual controls, including adjustments for volume, EQ, effect curves, and real-time waveform and beat data. Users can choose from presets like “Fade” or “Rise”, or fine-tune transitions track by track. Once satisfied, just hit Save to lock in the mix.

It’s a cool new way to level up your listening sessions or curate smoother party playlists—no pro mixing software needed. Spotify also allows collaborative mixed playlists, so you and your friends can tag-team on the aux.

The feature appears in the toolbar of user-created playlists, but full rollout details are still under wraps. Spotify says it’s only available to “eligible Premium users,” and there’s no word yet on when it’ll exit beta.
