If you’ve been considering switching to Starlink 50 as your internet provider, here’s a good reason to do so. Ookla, the company behind Speedtest, recently released data from Q4 2022 and Q1 2023 in the Philippines. Compared to all other fixed broadband providers, Starlink set the fastest median download speeds averaging 110.78 Mbps during Q1 2023.
Based on the data provided by Speedtest Intelligence, Starlink had a median upload speed of 13.69 Mbps and a latency of 162. Despite the fast download speed, Starlink did have a slower upload speed in the country. It also had a much higher latency than fixed broadband providers. With that in mind, it’s not perfect.
Starlink’s slower upload speeds and high latency are not only in the Philippines. The company also recorded slower upload speeds and higher latency compared to all other providers in new countries where Starlink was recently launched.
With that in mind, Starlink in the Philippines is far from perfect. In exchange for fast download speeds, you do get slower upload speeds and higher latency or ping. At least that’s according to the data provided by Ookla and Speedtest Intelligence.
It’s still a great option if you live in areas without high-speed fiber connection just yet such as the provinces. You could also have Starlink as a secondary internet provider for your home or business as well.
If you’re interested in getting a Starlink connection, you may now order through the Starlink website 10. We also have a video of how to set it up which you may watch here.

Attn DIRECTOT YUGATECH I find it disturbing when latency tests are measured to the closest available server such as in the Philippines, when 95% of the traffic is to USA or HK / Singapore. I cannot find online uncached and JITTER measurements to the most commonly used sites. One of the reasons I wish to get Starlink is to make better phone calls, the latency and jitter on Pinoy connections is absurdly high.
