Xiaomi in-house chipset benchmarks leaked, release this month

Listen to article

After news of Xiaomi creating its own in-house chipset made the rounds last year, it’s been near-complete radio silence since then. It’s finally been confirmed by none other than Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. Here’s everything you need to know about it – from details, to the benchmark scores and comparisons.

What we knew as early as last year was that this would be a combined partnership, leveraging upon the experience of Unisoc. This is to reduce the brand’s dependence (since it produces so many smartphones) on companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek.

The new chipset has been confirmed with a Chinese name of Xuanjie 01 and an international title of Xring 01 (which we’ll use in this article). Many sources have contradictory information on the possible core configurations, but a Geekbench leak suggests two-cores running at 3.9 GHz, a 3.4 GHz quad-core set, 1.89 GHz dual-core, and a 1.80 GHz dual-core pair. It’s definitely an interesting octa-core arrangement.

When it comes to benchmarks, two tests exist on the Geekbench platform so far. The first has a 2709 and 8125 score for single and multi-core respectively, while the second test is just a notch lower at 1860 and 7449. The disparity between these scores highlight that while this will surely be a flagship-level chip, the first score is set squarely between the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and 8 Gen 3, while the latter score is between the 8 Gen 2 and 3. It’s simply a generational difference – but top-shelf stuff either way.

Meanwhile, gamers should rest easy since this comes with a beefy ARM Immortalis-G925 MC16 GPU – and a substantial amount of RAM, highly dependent on which device the chipset is installed in.

We’re sure to hear more on this new processor come end-of-month, so we’ll keep you posted.
