iPad Mini with Retina display due in Q3

Those who are waiting for the next iteration of the iPad Mini with Retina display might just have to wait a little longer as reports are saying that it will come out in the third-quarter of this year.

According reports, Apple is already preparing to release, not one, but two iPad Minis. The first one, which will come out in Q3 of this year will have the much awaited Retina display. The second one, which has a speculated early 2014 release, will also have a Retina display but with the addition of an updated processor.

“We see two refreshes coming. One in the second half of this year, then one in Q1 of 2014. The Q1 device will have a Retina display plus an updated processor.” says NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim. Shim also speculates that Apple will utilize the iPhone 5’s low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) display technology for the next-gen iPad Minis.

  1. i’m waiting out on this.. then won’t buy because of “rumors” of a better version to be released after 6 months.. i’m gonna wait out on that instead. ad infinitum

  2. Thanks for the info Yuga. I didn’t know there will be 2 new iPad Minis.
I choose to wait for the Retina + Processor Update. Hope also Camera update. Currently I am using the iPad Mini. So far I am happy with it :)

  3. I’m ok with the retina version basta same price. I sold my Nexus 7 for the iPad Mini. Will wait for these. :)

    • why did you sold your nexus to the ipad mini??? wrong move mate, you could have just wait for the ipad mini 2 or better yet, the 2nd gen nexus 7.

    • Simple reason…

You can’t enjoy your Nexus 7 with few quality Android tablet optimized apps…

  4. hala! if I found out that Acer A1 would be a good tablet, nako, baka I might choose to buy this one…if and only if, naunang lumabas ang acer a1, and maganda yung specs…but then again, I like Ipad Mini for its build and IMHO stability of it’s OS.

  5. Been wantig to get an iPad Mini since it first came out. I’ll probably wait for the one with retina display to come out this year, then get the 1st gen iPad mini (the price of which will drop significantly) then wait for the one with updated specs in 2014 then upgrade. :)

  6. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to
be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is
a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The layout look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon.
    Many thanks
