Panasonic gives us the “world’s first rugged” detachable laptop. Loaded with Windows 10 Pro, the convertible wants to offer portability plus durability in one device.
The Toughbook 20 sports a 10.1-inch WUXGA (1920×1200 pixels) IPS multi-touch display that can deliver 800-nits of brightness. Processing is handled by an Intel Core m5-6Y57 vPro with Intel HD Graphics 515 and 8GB of RAM. Storage is an upgradeable 128GB SSD. Panasonic also packed a 2600mAh battery that is hot-swappable for uninterrupted use.
The tablet has a USB, microSDXC, HDMI, ethernet and an optional serial port. A microphone and headphone jack is also on the tablet plus a micro-SIM card slot.The keyboard dock has an additional 3 USB ports, SDXC, HDMI, VGA, and ethernet serial.
Wireless connectivity is covered by Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, and dual antenna pass through. There’s also an optional 4G LTE, GPS, and NFC reader.
The magnesium alloy chassis is MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certified. The whole package weighs 3.9lbs or 1.8kg. It will be available in February 2016 with rather tough $3,099 (~Php 147,000) price tag.
