Western Digital introduces its first portable SSD

Western Digital has unveiled their first and fastest portable drive yet, the My Passport SSD. Check out the specs and price below.

The My Passport SSD boasts speeds of up to 515 MB/s and features a USB Type-C port. It is USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gb/s) ready, has a 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password protection, a body that can withstand a 6.5-foot drop and 1500G of force, and comes with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable and adapter for USB Type-A ports.

The My Passport SSD will be available in three storage capacities – 1TB ($399.99), 512GB ($199.99), and 256GB ($99.99), with 3-year limited warranty. It will be available in the U.S. this quarter.
