DJI Zenmuse X5 Series: a mirroless camera system for the Inspire 1

DJI, the company behind the popular Phantom commercial drones, has just announced the Zenmuse X5 Series – a Micro Four Thirds camera system designed for the Inspire 1 drone.

The series consists of the Zenmuse X5 and Zenmuse X5R. Both cameras can shoot 4K videos at 30fps and 16 megapixel stills. The X5R is more powerful though with the capability to shoot lossless 4K videos in RAW format.

The X5 and X5R also comes with its own gimbal and DJI MFT 15mm f/1.7 ASPH lens. Price starts at $4,499 for the X5 and $7,999 for the X5R when bundled with the Inspire 1.

the price alone scares most drone newbies & even pros away. i wonder what Yuneec has in store to counter this.
