GoPro has released the HERO3, their latest flagship action-camera that is capable of shooting videos of up to 4Kp resolution.

The GoPro HERO3 is smaller, lighter and faster than its predecessor and comes in three models: the White, Silver and Black Editions. The White Edition can shoot 5 megapixel stills at 3fps burst and record videos of up to 1080p resolution at 30fps. If you want to bump up the specs a bit, there’s the Silver Edition that can shoot 11 megapixel stills at 10fps burst and can also record 1080p videos at 30fps. Now if you want to go all out you can opt for the Black Edition which can shoot 12 megapixel stills at 30fps burst and record videos of up to a whopping 4K cinema resolution at 12fps.
All models have wide angle f/2.8 – 6 element lenses, waterproof housing, 1050mAh rechargeable batteries and built-in WiFi so it can connect to your iOS device using the GoPro app. The Black Edition, however, comes with a remote control which lets you control up to 50 cameras simultaneously within a range of 600 feet.
The GoPro HERO3 White, Silver and Black Editions are now up for pre-order with a price tag of $199, $299 and $399 respectively. You can view the full spec sheet here.
