Exactly a year ago, TCL announced that it is separating Flash as a new mobile company. This is a new subsidiary apart from Alcatel, a more popular brand under the umbrella company.
Flash is a mobile brand under TCL Communication Technology Holding Limited based on online sales business model. Flash aims at innovating Cool, Young and Fun smart products to the consumers. Using big data and direct engagement within the community, Flash enhances its products for quality-conscious, technophiles and shutterbugs consumers.
Under the Flash 3C name, they managed to release two (2) handset models — the Flash 2 and the Flash Plus 2, both were equally popular and sold out really quickly.
However, the company missed its usual release cycle in Q3 of 2016. By the first quarter of 2017, it looks like the local team has been disbanded. Even the official Facebook Fan Page were not updated since January 1.

For a lack of a better term, it looks like Flash as a brand is now on a floating status. While it’s not clear what the reason behind it (and my discussions with members of the old team weren’t also clear on that part), it seems that the parent company is putting its focus somewhere else.
This is evident with their aggressive development of the BlackBerry brand which they licensed back in December 2016 (the timeline makes sense).
TCL also owns the right to the Palm brand which it plans to revive sometime in the future.
We’re still not sure what will eventually happen to Flash. Most likely, it will be absorbed back into Alcatel where it originally belonged to before the split.

well, Good Bye Flash ….
