How did Milenyo affect your traffic?

Was doing rounds on all the blogs and websites I handle and noticed varying effects on site traffic due to the Luzon-wide blackout caused by the recent typhoon, Milenyo. Depending on where most of your visitors comes from, it could really kill your traffic like a swarm of locust in the middle of the night.

See some screenshots below:

The last one is for my blog here and looks like it’s down by 20% and feed readers by only 10%. Likewise, revenues are down by 40%.

ABS CBN reporter RG Cruz, texted me that only about 30% of power has been restored in Luzon and full restoration is expected by Sunday. That means we’re having some partial rest away from work ’til then. If only there’s running water around. *hay*

Hi Yuga,

I have that experience too, a sudden drop of traffic! “nakupo!” I lost 30% of visitors on that last week of september. Anyway I’m glad the traffic is restored again probably due to the restoration of power.

Milenyo drove my traffice like crazy! I started blogging just last month, and since Thursday last week had around 300 site visits. My site focuses on UPLB alumni and so I posted photographs of the UPLB campus after the typhoon. I was just dreaming I could have a thousand visit by Sept 30. Word got around and a lot of alumni were interested to look at how the campus was affected. I had exponential growth since then. From an average of only 30 visits per day, I have now an average of 70 visits per hour or 300 page views per day. I had almost a thousand visits yesterday.

It’s overwhelming for me as I just started blogging. At the same its good to meet fellow UPLB alumni, albeit on the web.

My traffic is down by at 20-30% and revenues by 20% starting the other day. But it’s slowly picking up late today.

Hahaha, me too! No electricity, no internet, no wifi. I’m wifi wardriving whole day. Some coffee shops in Glorietta are open and I’m at Starbucks, Bluewave near MoA now.

Hi Abe… Looks like regardless of normal traffic above 1,200 the usual traffic of blogs hovered at the 1,200 level. Perhaps, except for the loyal 1200, most of our visitors were busy looking for water? :-)

Radio station comentaristas would often ask: “Nakaligo na ba kayo?” while some folks would be seen in the streets, running after “free” water trucks deployed by some electoral candidates.
