Canva Docs — a cloud-based document editor — is now in open beta and it adds the ‘Magic Write‘ tool that uses generative AI to create content from the user’s prompt, and also serves as a copywriting tool.
“We know staring at a blank page can be daunting, so we’re here to help. Today, for the very first time, we’re thrilled to unveil Magic Write, an AI-powered copywriting assistant in Canva Docs,” the company said in a post.
Forbes reports that it runs on OpenAI‘s GPT-3 language model capable of generating contents, such as social media posts, blog posts, press releases, and even creative write-ups such as poems.
You may also set the tone of the writing from formal to playful to include on the prompt.
Additionally, it will be also useful to proofreading and paraphrasing by highlighting the text and add an instruction to generate a new version of the text.
Magic Write does sound like a great feature along Canva Docs, but don’t expect it to write Palanca-award winning entries. It is only intended to save time and does the first draft for you. “Simply tell Magic Write what’s on your mind and it’ll create the starting point for you.”

Canva says the feature will be free for everyone, though it can only be used up to 25 times, while Canva Pro and Canva for Teams can get more queries.

Magic Write and Canva Docs join the recently released Text-to-image tool bringing a whole new experience for users.
With the introduction of Canva Visual Worksuite way back in September this year, the company moves beyond just a graphic design app and has certainly reached other areas like communications and marketing.
