Canva Sheets unveiled, also expands to coding

Canva is rolling out a major update to its Visual Suite, introducing several new tools aimed at turning the platform into an all-in-one workspace. Among the highlights are Canva Sheets, a new spreadsheet app with built-in AI, and Canva Code, a generative coding assistant.

Canva Sheets takes a more visual approach to spreadsheets, allowing users to combine text, data, and images in a single view. It supports data imports from platforms like Google Analytics, HubSpot, and Statista.

AI features like ‘Magic Insights’ automatically surface patterns, while ‘Magic Charts’ help turn data into animated visuals and reports.

Canva Code functions like GitHub Copilot or Google’s Gemini Code Assist. Users can input simple prompts to generate websites, widgets, or other interactive elements — no coding required.

Furthermore, a new AI chatbot pulls Canva’s generative features into a single interface. This offers voice and text control over design tasks like photo editing, text generation, and slide creation accessible more conveniently.

Its Photo Editor is also getting smarter, with new AI tools for removing background objects and generating custom backgrounds that adjust for lighting and layout—similar to features found in Adobe Photoshop.

This update builds on Canva’s push into office productivity, following earlier launches like Canva Docs and Canva Whiteboards.

Canva will gradually roll out Canva Sheets and Canva Code in phases “over the coming months.”
