Google Meet now allows users to unmute easily with the spacebar like Zoom

Listen to article

If you’re more accustomed to Zoom, then you might be familiar with their push-to-talk feature. This simply allows you to unmute yourself by holding down the spacebar and letting go to mute yourself back.

The feature will now be making its way to Google Meet with it essentially working the same. This makes it much easier to participate in a conversation or meeting with your colleagues while ensuring that you won’t forget to mute yourself back.

Google Meet

The feature will be set to off by default but can be enabled in Google Meet’s settings. To temporarily unmute yourself, hold down the spacebar to be unmuted, then release the spacebar to return back to being muted.

The rollout of the new unmuting feature on Google Meet will begin on September 9, 2022 and take up to 15 days to be fully available to all users.
