For users with entry-level Android smartphones, you can now officially download Facebook’s slimmed down version of the standard Messenger app – the Messenger Lite.

The Messenger Lite for Android launched in October 2016. It was initially available in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela. In April 2017, it rolled out to more countries but skipped the Philippines, until now.

Facebook’s Messenger Lite, at under 10MB, is a lightweight version of Messenger. It is faster, uses less data and works in all network conditions even 2G. You can download it from the Google Play Store here.
