Microsoft is letting go of their virtual assistant Cortana from Windows 10 and 11.
Microsoft has made an announcement in a support document that states that Cortana will no longer be supported in Windows in late 2023.
The document gives you options to transition away from Cortana. These include Windows 11’s voice access, Bing, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Windows Copilot.
Voice access in Windows 11 allows users to control their PC with their voice. These actions can range from opening and switching applications, browsing the web, and accessing emails. This is also applicable offline.
As Bing is now AI-powered, it is able to answer complex questions similar to Cortana as users can type or speak to the AI.
Microsoft 365 Copilot utilizes AI to create, edit, share content and more through the use of users’ Microsoft 365 data.
Finally, Microsoft Copilot is able to provide AI assistance together with Bing Chat. This feature is said to be available this month.
Cortana will still exist through Microsoft’s Outlook and Teams, but this may be the start of the end for the virtual assistant.
