Previously, we did a 2025 comparison of the three popular music streaming services 93 in the Philippines: Apple Music, Spotify Premium, and YouTube Music.
Now, we are also doing a comparison among the biggest video streaming services available today. In particular, we have Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV+.
How do they stack up against one another in 2025? Let’s find out.
Before anything else, let’s take a quick look at all the monthly plans and pricing offered by these video streaming services.
As you can see, Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney Plus offer different tiers: ranging from Mobile plans starting as low as Php149 a month, up to Premium plans with Netflix being the most expensive out of the bunch— priced at Php619 a month.
Meanwhile, both Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ offer standalone plans, priced at Php149 and Php369 a month, respectively.
With that out of the way, let’s now take a closer look at each service offerings.
Starting with Netflix, it sure has one of the most extensive library, well, at least in terms of original content and also the more popular ones in that sense. There’s Squid Game, Black Mirror, KPop Demon Hunters, and many more hit original contents under Netflix.
However, as compared to offerings from other services, Netflix comes with the most expensive pricing. There’s the Mobile plan priced at Php169 a month that offers standard definition or in other words, “SD” quality.
For context, that’s 480p viewing, which is a lower quality as compared to high definition, a.k.a. “HD” or 720p. Next to that will be Full HD which is 1080p and it’s the usual video resolution nowadays. Then, a level higher than that is gonna be 4K Ultra HD at 2160p that is most suitable for high-end TVs and tablets.
Keep this info in mind since I will be mentioning it a lot throughout this article.

Going back to Netflix offerings, the Mobile is the most limited as you can only use either a phone or a tablet to watch on. Then, there’s the Basic plan at Php279 a month that comes with 720p viewing and can already be used on a TV.
Next, the Standard plan with Full HD 1080p viewing is priced at Php449 a month. Notably, that price is almost twice as high as compared to HBO Max and Disney Plus respective plans that come with 1080p viewing. This plan supports up to two concurrent streams at a time, and you have the option to add one extra member slot for an additional Php169 a month.
Lastly, there’s the Premium plan priced at Php619 a month with 4K UHD viewing, HDR, and Netflix spatial audio. It supports up to four concurrent streams at a time and up to two extra member slot for the same price at Php169 a month.
Moving on to another service that has an extensive library of original content: Disney+. You have all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Pixar and Disney animations, you name it, they’re all accessible on Disney+.
One thing to recall about Disney Plus is they actually had an aggressive pricing when they first came out in the Philippines. Before the massive price hike in 2024, their Mobile plan (which is now the Basic plan) was priced at Php159 a month, and the Premium plan was previously Php369 a month.
Compare those to today’s pricing: the Basic plan now costs Php249 a month with 1080p viewing for one device only, and the Premium plan is now Php519 a month offering 4K content, and up to four concurrent streams at once.
They also offer annual subscriptions for Php1,990 and Php4,190 per year, for the Basic and Premium plans, respectively.
Recently in June, Disney+ got a huge 75% discount on all their plans, particularly in annual subscriptions, the discounted price was as low as Php498 pesos for the Basic plan, and Php1,048 for the Premium plan. That’s insane value if you were able to take advantage of that promo.
I’m just not sure whether Disney+ will offer a similar promo in the future, but for now, you have the usual prices.
Now, just a side note: both Netflix and Disney+ are bundled with internet fiber plan offerings 28 from internet service providers (ISP) like PLDT, Globe, and Converge which we also covered previously.
Now, onto HBO Max which was previously named HBO GO for Asia. As usual, you get all the HBO shows like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, and also DC films and series.
Personally, I think HBO Max’s pricing is on the sweet spot and offers good value for the price. It starts at Php149 a month for the Mobile plan with HD viewing already.
Next, there’s the Standard plan at Php269 a month with Full HD viewing and up to two concurrent streams at once. And then, there’s the Ultimate plan for Php399 a month that comes with 4K quality and supports up to four concurrent streams.
There are also annual subscriptions, starting at Php1,040 and up to Php2,790 per year which are notably cheaper than Disney+ offerings.
Next up, we have Amazon Prime Video which has a standalone subscription for Php149 a month.
For the price, it already offers up to 4K quality and supports three concurrent streaming at a time. However, the streaming quality depends on the device: say if you have an Android phone, you may get up to 4K Ultra HD, but for Windows 11 PCs, it’s capped at HD.
Notably, Amazon Prime Video also offers original content and the most popular ones that I’ve watched so far are the anti-hero series The Boys and the animated superhero series Invincible.
Furthermore, Amazon Prime Video is also bundled with some load promos from DITO, albeit it’s limited to one mobile device and capped at SD quality. Prime Video access bundled with these promos will last for 30 days.
Last but definitely not the least is Apple TV+ which also has a standalone subscription of Php369 a month.
For the price, you have access to Apple Originals like Ted Lasso, Severance, and more. Interestingly, access to Apple TV+ can be shared with up to five members within your Apple family.
There’s a seven-day free trial if anyone’s interested, and for those who have a brand-new Apple device, you are entitled to a three-month free subscription to Apple TV+.
Additionally, the service is also available through certain Apple One subscriptions bundled with other services like Apple Music. Those subscribed to Apple Music Student plan can also enjoy a free subscription to Apple TV+.
Thankfully, the service is not limited to Apple devices only as it’s compatible with all devices including Android and smart TVs.
As you would expect, each comes with their own set of original contents, and unfortunately, you can’t find all the shows and movies in just one service. Not to mention, other local and regional streaming platforms also exist with their own unique content.
Ultimately, it’s up to your taste whether you’d stick to one or add another streaming service in the mix to satisfy your entertainment needs.
But how about you? Are you using any of these streaming services? Which one would you let go forever if you had to choose? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments below!
