After introducing 360-degree videos, Facebook now gives its users 360-degree and panoramic images and let them enjoy it in an immersive preview. Any panorama stills from camera launchers or a 360-degree photo from 360 cameras available in the market will be supported by Facebook. Uploading is the same as with normal image but once posted, there will be a compass icon to identify 360 photos. 360 photos are available on Facebook via the web and the latest mobile app version of iOS and Android. In an attempt to be prepared for what would be the next big thing of the future, Facebook has made its own 360-degree camera and called it the Facebook Surround 360. Facebook's aim is to "build the perfect 360 camera" that's able to shoot high-quality videos from the get-go without having the need to do heavy post processing on the footage just to produce immersive images. The Surround 360 is reported to record up to 2 hours of 360-video and could go from 4K to 6K, and as high as 8K resolution for each eye. The more people buy these affordable 360 cameras, the more footage will be available and will give consumers more reasons to buy Facebook's Oculus Rift VR headsets.
