In the latest Akamai State of the Internet Report for Q2 2016, the Philippines ranked 6th in mobile internet speed in Asia Pacific. Across all countries measured by Akamai, the United Kingdom got the highest speed at an average of 23.1Mbps (27.9Mbps from previous quarter), followed by Belgium at 21.1Mbps The survey made by Akamai for the 2nd quarter of 2016 included 56 countries. In the same report, the Philippines also got an average of 4.3Mbps (fixed broadband speed) for the same quarter. This is 23% highest than the 3.5Mbps from the previous quarter (see 1st quarter report here). The latest report from Akamai (for Q1 2015) also noted that the national average of internet speed in the Philippines is still at 2.8Mbps, way below the regional average but still higher than India and Indonesia. Akamai also measured the peak average speeds at 20.3Mbps Akamai generates this report based on access speeds recorded by their CDN servers from all internet users in the Philippines that access content from their network. In July 2013 we reported that Akamai, an Internet content delivery network, indicated that the average connection speed in the Philippines is 1.4Mbps with an average peak of 13.8Mbps. By end of 2013, they've reported that the Philippines average has increased to 2.0Mbps with a 42% year-on-year increase.
