BDO has finally stopped accepting debit cards without the EMV chip since January 31, 2018. We would like to remind you that all non-EMV Chip BDO Debit Cards have expired as of January 31, 2018 and may no longer be used. EMV-chips are more secured and less prone to skimming which has been happening with a lot of BDO ATMs lately. BDO has blocked some of its ATM (automated teller machine) debit and cash cards after receiving reports of data skimming from its users. In a report from CNN Philippines, the blocking of ATM cards started on Eid'l Adha holiday (September 1). BDO has also declined to give any information regarding on how many cards were affected and in which areas of the country the cards were blocked.  BDO said that for those users whose cards were blocked, they'd be able to have over-the-counter withdrawals at BDO branches free of charge. It also mentioned that compromised ATM debit and cash cards will be replaced for free. However, in recent times, netizens have noted that both the fingerprint and facial recognition technology on BDO ATMs are rather unstable and don't really work all that well.
