BDO blocks ATM cards over skimming issues

BDO has blocked some of its ATM (automated teller machine) debit and cash cards after receiving reports of data skimming from its users.

In a report from CNN Philippines, the blocking of ATM cards started on Eid’l Adha holiday (September 1). BDO has also declined to give any information regarding on how many cards were affected and in which areas of the country the cards were blocked.

BDO said that for those users whose cards were blocked, they’d be able to have over-the-counter withdrawals at BDO branches free of charge. It also mentioned that compromised ATM debit and cash cards will be replaced for free.
